County Plan Director Ralph Booker, Jerry Chavez from the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation and LaPaz businessman Larry Albert presented a favorable recommendation from the Plan Commission to re-zone a 6-plus acre site on the north side of US 6 and west of the new US 31 from Agricultural to C2 Highway Commercial.
Changing the current zoning matches the LaPaz Comprehensive Plan.
Chavez said changing the zoning will take some of the risk away from anyone interested in developing on the property. He also noted that the future plan is to annex the property into the town and prepare it for a TIF (Tax Incremental Financing) District.
The Commissioners suspended the rules and approved the Zoning Map Ordinance amendment on all three readings.
