The Plymouth boys golf team locked horns with local foes Laville and Culver Community on Wednesday evening at Swan Lake’s Silver course.  The host Pilgrims edged out the Lancers, while the Cavaliers were one player shy from fielding a Varsity.

Plymouth 164
LaVille 171
Culver – no score
The Plymouth JV also bested the LaVille JV by several shots 204-235.  The JV was lead in scoring by upstart freshman Tristen Moyer’s 49.  Tonight was the second consecutive match Tristen has broken 50; impressive after starting the season at the bottom of the pack.
Tonight’s adjusted varsity lineup featured two players moving up from the JV ranks to give a couple guys a rare night off.  Sophomore Bryce Carmichael contributed a solid 42.  Freshman Andrew Himes carded a 47.
Seniors John Gerard and Grant Clady turned in very solid and steady rounds both firing 38’s to pace the field and lead the Varsity.  A real positive for both guys was their ability to rebound from last night’s disappointing rounds at Rozella Ford.
Tuesday evening the Varsity competed in the Joe Harris Shootout, an 18 hole, nine-team event, at Rozella Ford in Warsaw.  Plymouth finished 3rd.  Tuesday’s strong wind coupled with stinging temps we’re on the minds and the bare skin of all players.  Tuesday’s 18 hole event was the third such event of the season for the varsity.  Getting to play Rozella, our sectional venue, provided our guys a good preview for sectional in early June.
Tuesday’s finish marked the first time our guys have not finished in the top spot in an 18 hole invitational this season.  Our putting performance left a lot to be desired.
