City NEwsWalsh and Kelly Inc. from South Bend had the low bid for the Spring Street and Sidewalk Projects while Pavement Solutions Inc. of Middletown was the only bidder for the microsurface projects.

Monday evening the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids for the street and sidewalk program.  Four companies submitted bids:

E & B Paving from Rochester bid $445,370.42                                                                                                                                                                                Phend & Brown Inc. from Milford bid $511,897.50

Reith Riley Construction from South Bend bid $518,371.12 and

Walsh & Kelly Inc from South Bend had the low bid at $431,432.25.

Street projects include Jefferson Street from the Yellow River bridge to Kingston Avenue; PIDCO Drive from Jim Neu to Oak Drive and Markley Drive from Shamrock to Western Avenue.  Existing sidewalk curb ramps will be updated at the corners but no additional sidewalk work will be included in these projects.

The microsurface projects bid by Pavement Solutions include Oak Drive from State Road 17 to US 30; Oakhill Avenue from the city limits to South Michigan Street and Jefferson Street from Oak Drive to Fifth Street.  The bid for the projects was $415,972.78.

The bids were taken under advisement with anticipation to award the bids at the next city meeting on May 8th.

These projects are being funded from last year’s Community Crossing Grant the city received.  That grant is a 50/50 match between the state and the city.
