Monday evening the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the quote from Oliver Ford for a 2017 5500 truck with dump bed.
Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson made the recommendation to accept the high quote but clarified, the low quote from Country Auto was for an electrical PTO instead of the specified hydraulic PTO. Davidson said the quote from Oliver Ford was about $1,300 higher but the hydraulic PTO is extremely necessary to discharge material from the dump bed.
The Board of Public Works realized the need for the hydraulic PTO and unanimously approved the Oliver Ford quote of $65,918.
In other business Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller told the board the Volunteer Fire Department received a grant from the Community Foundation last fall to purchase a new gator-med-bed for $13,000. The old bed was 15 year old. The volunteers took delivery of the piece of equipment and have turned it over to the city.
