The Marshall County Commissioners will attempt to re-establish the Cum Cap Development Fund at the maximum rate next month.
Last year when Umbaugh completed a Comprehensive Financial Plan it was recommended re-establishing to rate at the state maximum of $.0333 per $100 of Assessed Value. It was estimated that the increase would generate an additional $400,000 annually.
The timing of the increase last year was not conducive to allow enough time to explain to the general population the reasoning behind the increase and a remonstrance with 128 signatures stopped the increase.
During Monday’s commissioner meeting they set a public hearing at 9 a.m. on April 3rd to re-establish the rate.
The Commissioners challenged the County Council to adopt a resolution at their meeting next week in support of the increase.
