Pursuit_SR110_1On March 3, at approximately 10:06 a.m., Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Rodd Schuh observed a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling north bound on U.S 31 in the area of 19th road.  Schuh clocked the vehicle traveling 80 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone.  Trooper Schuh turned around on the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle turned west bound on 18th road.  The vehicle accelerated and attempted to evade Trooper Schuh.  Schuh pursued the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren activated.  The vehicle continued to violate traffic laws while attempting to evade police for nearly nine miles.  Speeds during the pursuit reached 90 miles per hour.

Pursuit_SR110_4At approximately 10:15 a.m., the suspect vehicle disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Peach Rd. and State Road 110 traveling south bound.  A semi tractor trailer was traveling west bound on State Road 110 and struck the suspect vehicle as it disregarded the stop sign.

Pursuit_SR110_3There were four occupants in the suspect vehicle at the time of the pursuit.  Three of the occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, were injured and taken to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Plymouth. The passengers suffered minor injuries and were released from the hospital.

Pursuit_SR110_5Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and Argos Police Department assisted the Indiana State Police at the scene of the crash

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Orran Burch of Muncie, was charged with felony resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and booked into the Marshall county jail.
