PHS_JAG2017_1Plymouth High School Jobs For America’s Graduates (JAG) placed in six categories the Regional JAG Career Development Conference that was held at the Kroc Center in South Bend. The event was held on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

PHS_JAG2017_2JAG is a WorkOne Sponsored program that stands for Jobs For America’s Graduates and is a state based national non-profit organization dedicated to helping youth develop employment skills to succeed in their career pathway for life after graduation.

PHS_Jag2017_3JAG Specialist Cari Sharpe said, “Career Development Conference, is much like DECA, in which students have the opportunity to compete against other JAG students from the region, then if they win first or second place they get to participate at the State level.”

PHS_JAG2017_4Shape and Plymouth High School administrators would like to congratulate the following students for placing in this year’s regional competition: Alejandra Diaz won 1st in Public Speaking, 1st in Cover Design, and 2nd in JAG Blog.  Alfredo Gonzalez won 3rd in Creative Solutions.  Jake Brown won 1st in Critical Thinking. Nathan Corsaw came in 2nd in Entrepreneurship Plan. Logan Carroll worked really hard with Nathan on the Plan but was extremely ill the day of the competition and was unable to attend.

PHS_JAG2017_5Students Nicholas Balkema participated in Writing Skills and Jenelle Cleveland participated in the Employability Skills, unfortunately Sharpe said neither placed in the top three. However, she wants to commend both students for their fantastic efforts and they are ALL WINNERS!!
Brown and Diaz will now move on to the State JAG competition that will be held on March 17, 2017 in Indianapolis. Both will receive the all expense paid trip which includes being transported via charter bus to the JAG State Career Development Conference along with their hotel stay.

Sharpe said, “This is an amazing opportunity for these students to show their skills off to the whole state of Indiana. I am so extremely happy for both of them.”
