HeartlandGallary_Sarah LuginbillSarah Luginbill will be the featured artist at the Heartland Artists Gallery starting Jan. 17th through February 25th. Sarah is a self-taught painter who has a deep love for all things beautiful. She lives in Peru, Indiana where she raised four children with her husband, Ron. She divides her time between painting in her studio and teaching private and group lessons to children and adults alike. She tells her students, “Paint your best at what you love and someday someone will come along and love your work as much as you do.”

She was born to missionary parents in Sierra Leone, West Africa where she lived till she was 16 years old. They encouraged hard work and persistence to achieve excellence. It has paid off as Sarah’s work has been well received in many shows throughout Indiana. She has won awards in the Hoosier Salon as early as 1992. In 2004 she won Outstanding Watercolor, Traditional for the painting titled: “Torn Tapestry”. She has also won many other awards throughout Indiana and exhibited in galleries with solo and group shows. Sarah is a Hoosier Salon Signature Artist member and has paintings in the Hoosier Salon Gallery at 22 Rangeline Road, Carmel, Indiana.

Sarah shared, “At the end of my life, hopefully people will still admire and love paintings that I have spent hours making. But I should desire it more if they will remember how and why I lived more than what I painted.”

HeartlandGallary_Sarah Luginbill_workThe Gallery has scheduled a time for the community to meet other Heartland Artists as well as Sarah Luginbill, our featured artist, on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 1-4. She will give a Gallery Talk at 3:00 Sunday to share her love of beautiful things, her art and watercolor techniques. The community is invited to this reception.

The Gallery’s mission is to support area artists, to bring and to teach the arts to our community. Our not-for-profit Gallery gives area artists a venue to show and sell their art. Our art classes fulfill our mission for educating and the classes assist in our financial means to maintain the Gallery. The Gallery offers classes in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, pottery, stained glass, jewelry, line drawing, textile arts, and so much more. Some classes are scheduled and others are open to scheduling the time at your convenience. We host a reception each month throughout the year that gives the community a time to visit other than our Gallery hours of Tuesday-Saturday 10-4.
