Plymouth Color Logo2014It was a quick meeting for the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety and Common Council Monday night.

The first order of business was to swear in Duane Culp as a member of the Board of Works.  They then set meeting dates and times.  The city meetings will be held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month expect in December when the 4th meeting falls on Christmas Day.  That meeting will be moved to the 27th.  The Board of Works meeting will begin at 6 p.m. while the Common Council meeting will begin at 6:30 or immediately after the completion of the Board of Public Works and Safety.

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson told member in October they were notified by Indiana Public Employers Plan (IPEP) safety grant applications for equipment and programs that could limit Workman’s Compensation exposure were being accepted.  The city’s utility department submitted two applications one for inflatable trench shoring equipment at a total cost of $8,176.00 while the second application was for a multi-gas monitoring system that costs $2,580.62.

On December 30th Davidson was notified the both grant applications were selected.  The grant is an 80/20 split with the city paying $1,635 for the trench shoring equipment and $516.13 for the gas monitoring equipment.  He said the city’s matching funds are available in both waste water and water department budgets for the purchases.

The Board of Public Works motioned to authorize the grant agreement.

In other business Davidson reported the Water Department secretary will retire shortly.  He was authorized to begin the hiring process for a full-time secretary/laborer.
