Eighth graders Dakota Linback, Grant Witmer and Jonathan Hernandez performed a trumpet trio concert at Miller’s Assisted Living on Saturday, December 10th. The young men are under the direction of band director Lisa Wallen.
The musicians made contact with the assisted living activity director and made all the plans for the concert themselves. Wallen is not only teaching her students about music and how to play their instruments. She is also teaching them the importance of speaking to people when setting up their own gigs and how to conduct themselves as they play before an audience.
The musicians of the Trumpet Trio took turns telling the history and the stories behind the many fun Christmas songs they chose to play at Miller’s.
The residents of Millers are very interested in young people coming into the facility and sharing their talents. Those who would like to come perform may call 574-936-9801 and ask to speak with Cindy Flagg.
