fire_ak-industriesPlymouth firefighters were dispatched to AK Industries on Stanley Drive in Plymouth at 9:03 Wednesday morning for a fire.  All employees were evacuated from the building before emergency units arrived on scene.

Firefighters located the fire in the back corner of the manufacturing facility.  Fire Chief Rod Miller believed a mechanical malfunction caused the resin to overheat and catch on fire.  The building was filled with thick black smoke.  Miller said the fire suppression system kept the fire contained.

No injuries were reported.  While AK Industries will have clean up and repair to the area of the fire, it’s business a normal for the employees.

Chief Miller did ask for and was granted assistance from the Bremen Fire Department, Argos Fire Department and Culver Fire.
