fatal-crashOne person is dead and two were injured in a four vehicle crash on Us 31 at 12th Road Wednesday morning about 6:20.

Public Information Officer Trent Smith with the Indiana State Police say a silver Volkswagen was east bound on 12th Road attempting to cross the north bound lanes and US 31 and pulled into the path of a north bound (green) car and was T-boned.  Those two vehicles ended up in the north bound lanes and the green car was struck again by a blue passenger car.  The blue car landed in the median and the green car was then struck by a third vehicle, a north bound pickup truck with a livestock trailer.

The passenger in the green vehicle was killed in the crash and the driver was airlifted to a trauma center.  The person in the blue vehicle may have suffered a broken arm and was transported by Plymouth Paramedics to the Plymouth Hospital.  Two people involved in the crash, the driver of the Volkswagen and the pickup truck were not injured.

North bound US 31 will be closed until 10:30 or so for Indiana State Police to conduct their investigation.

Details on those involved will be released after family members have been notified.
