fire_20245birch_1Firefighters from nine department responded to a fully engulfed house fire Thursday morning about 11:30 south of Tippecanoe.

The initial call was a house on fire at 20245 Birch Road with the possibility of a person inside.

fire_20245birch_2The Tippecanoe Fire Department took the initial call and even before arriving on scene called for assistance with a full response from Bourbon.  Arriving on the scene and seeing the home with fire showing through the roof on the back side of the house Tippecanoe called for assistance with tankers and sometimes manpower from Mentone, Etna Green, Rochester, Plymouth, Argos, Burket and Bremen fire departments.

Tippecanoe Township Trustee Matt Pitney told WTCA firefighters believe the fire started on a back porch addition on the southwest corner of the home.

fire_20245birch_3Damage was extensive to the roof structure and Pitney believes the home is a complete loss although.   He does believe some contents will be able to be salvaged.  Much of the home sustained smoke and water damage.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.  The State Fire Marshall’s Office will begin an investigation of the blaze on Friday.

No injuries were reported while battling the fire.
