A county police officer arrested a South Bend man Thursday morning about 1:20 after a traffic stop at on US 31 near US 30.

The traffic stop was for a moving violation and during the investigation it was determined that the driver, 30 year old Matthew Szumski of South Bend was intoxicated.  He was subsequently detained and submitted to a certified test. Szumski was later lodged into the Marshall County Jail for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a BAC >.08%.
