Snack producer, Pretzels Inc. is anticipating a quick turnaround time from acquisition to production on their new plant in Plymouth. The plant will be built within a shell facility originally constructed a year ago to attract new businesses that are looking for just this type of fast turnaround.
Plymouth’s shell building initiative has benefited the region by attracting the first new business to the community in nine years. It’s also created major momentum for Pretzels Inc. at a time when they needed it most. The company’s Pennsylvania facility was recently ruined in a tragic fire.
Pretzels Inc., represents the first large scale new business to move into Marshall County in nearly a decade.
On Thursday, Pretzels Inc. is assembling 24 contractors, equipment manufacturers, and business partners from across the country and locally at the new facility, located at 2910 Commerce Street, Plymouth, IN. There, many will be introduced to the building, review milestones and continue in earnest to buildout the facility. Pretzels will begin a major step of their buildout of the new facility this week by pouring concrete to finish the 45,000 square foot floor.
“This facility will replace our Pennsylvania plant which experienced a devastating fire this past June,” says Smith. “Pretzels is excited to get back to production in record time thanks to a truly monumental effort here in Marshall County.”
The shell building will be transformed into a functional production facility by January, with a buildout of over $6,000,000. This will be followed by an equipment and machinery installation of approximately $12,000,000, allowing for equipment startup in February. Shipping to customers is estimated to begin by March 2017.
Pretzels Inc. is a family-owned business headquartered in Bluffton, Indiana. The company offers pretzels in over 900 varieties for store brands, private labels and its own Harvest Road products. Its fastest growing product is peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets, which will be produced exclusively at the new Plymouth facility.
