ArrestedWednesday evening (11/2/16) Plymouth Police were dispatched to the Prairie View Group Home in the 700 block of West Jefferson Street in reference to a battery.

City Officer Jeremy Enyart investigated the complaint and found using video surveillance that 18 year old Jovante D. Nanks, a resident in the group home had battered a 17 year old male resident.

Nanks was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of Battery.  He was given a December 13th court date in Marshall Superior Court II and held on a $750 cash bond.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
