A three vehicle crash on US 31 at 9A Road Thursday about 2 p.m. took the life of an Illinois woman.
Officers at the scene say a 4 door car driven by a female was east bound on 9A Road and pulled into the path of a southbound semi driven by 36 year old Emir Domazet of Largo, Florida and a Nissan van driven by 45 year old Timothy Lands of Elkhart who was in the passing lane of US 31 next to the semi.
The semi slammed into the driver’s side of the car forcing it off the west side of the roadway, where it apparently rolled over coming to rest on its wheels.
The unnamed driver was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Plymouth Fire.
Plymouth EMS attended to the female and a helicopter landed on scene for transport to the South Bend trauma center but it was too late.
Both Domazet and Lands received minor injuries in the crash and were treated at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for leg injuries.
Indiana State Police are investigating this crash and both north and south bound traffic on US 31 was restricted to one lane for several hours. Â Traffic was restored about 5:30.
