Road_ConstructionE & B Paving from Rochester will begin work on Fir Road Thursday.

As part of the Community Crossings Grant program the county commissioners approved $591,848 to repave Fir Road from U.S. 30 to the town limits of Bremen on September 6th.   This project includes 400 tons of wedge and leveling before a 1 and a half inch of hot-mix-asphalt is laid down.

Traffic on Fir Road will be restricted during construction which is expected to last about one week.

County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said Plymouth Goshen Trail improvements are scheduled to begin on Monday.  The project will run from State Road 6 north to the county line.  Rieth Riley Construction from South Bend will wedge and level the roadway before covering the surface with hot-mix-asphalt at a cost of $173,412.  It’s anticipated that this project will be completed by Tuesday evening.

Rieth Riley will also begin work on Old US 31 between the bridge replacement project and 2A Road on both the north and south bound lanes of travel.  This is a mill and fill project with milling scheduled for Monday and the paving to begin on Tuesday.  The quote for this portion of the Community Crossing grant application was $199,376.

The final project for Rieth Riley is 7th Road from Linden to King Roads at a cost of $143,774.  Prep work will begin on Monday and paving is expected to happen on Tuesday.

Drivers are asked to avoid the construction areas.  If you must drive in the construction zone, SLOW DOWN and watch out for workers.
