Sunday evening about 10:45, Officer Laffoon with the Marshall County Police Department was working the OWI Task Force on U.S. 30 near Tulip Road when he observed a vehicle with an equipment violation.

During the course of the traffic stop, probable cause was obtained to search the vehicle involved. That search yielded a small amount of suspected marijuana.

The driver, 22 year old Steven D. Serros of East Chicago lodged at the Marshall County Jail for Possession of Marijuana under 10 grams.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
