Walorski_Republican Breakfast              The Marshall County Republicans welcomed Congresswoman Jackie Walorski to their August breakfast meeting. Walorski, who is running for re-election to represent Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District, has been making appearances throughout the district to educate her constituents. The latest stop on August 18th was well attended by the local Republican officeholders and candidates.

Walorski delivered a speech to educate her constituents on her work in Congress. There were three main areas of information on which she spoke. The first, and arguably the most important area, was national defense. She described her role in the House of Representatives as a protection to the expanding executive branch. Walorski lamented the executive branch under President Obama has been reducing national defense spending, at the expense of protecting the United States.

Welfare reform was the second platform Walorski has been engaged in the recent months of her tenure. The specific focus of their reform has been decreasing dependence on food stamps, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Finally, Walorski recapped her continuing work on the Veteran’s Affairs committee of the House. Walorski expressed her great honor to represent the veterans of the United States in aiding their benefits and treatment programs.

The people attending the event were thankful for the legislative update delivered by Walorski., and Walorski expressed her appreciation for the invitation. The event wrapped-up with a short question and answer session conducted by the Marshall Count Republicans.
