County Police Officers responded to a two vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of US 31 south of 13th Road at the railroad crossing Wednesday afternoon about 2:30.
58 year old Randall Downey of Highland was south bound in a 1998 Kenworth semi hauling a cargo tank placard with anhydrous ammonia. Downey had stopped at the tracks as required when transporting hazardous material.
25 year old Robert Rice Jr. was also south bound in a 2013 Freightliner pulling a flatbed trailer with no cargo. He told County Police Officer Les McFarland he thought he fell asleep and ran into the back of Downey’s semi.
Rice complained of pain and was transported to the Plymouth Hospital with minor injuries by Plymouth Paramedics.
