tornado-sirens-testingToday is Statewide Tornado Drill Day. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office will be participating by setting off the sirens in Bourbon, Inwood, Plymouth and Culver. These warning sirens will be tested twice. Once in the morning and once in the evening.

While testing is done to ensure that the sirens are working, this is also a good time to for everyone practice their tornado safety. Some tips are:
-Know where you’ll meet your family during or after the tornado
-seek shelter in a basement, small interior room or on the lowest floor. If you are outside, lie face down with your arms protecting your head.
-stay away from downed power lines and flooded areas
Finally: do call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency. Don’t call 9-1-1 just to get information after the storm or to ask why the sirens are going off. If there is a tornado, tune into your local broadcaster such as radio or television for further information.

Tests today are at 10:15 a.m. and 7:35 p.m.
