Plymouth Color Logo2014PLYMOUTH – Plans continue to move forward to expand the home of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County and the city of Plymouth is looking at a project to help that project move forward.

The area of the current club is subject to flooding from time to time and Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson came before the Board of Public Works and Safety to seek permission to move ahead with a project to change that.

Davidson said that investigation by his department had located several unique problems including a large storm drain that currently runs directly under the Boys & Girls Club building and a second smaller sanitary sewer that runs to the west of the property that is in need of relocation. The sewer under the bulding is a 24 inch line and both lines would be relocated to a more strategic and advantageous spot with Davidson’s plan.

Midwest Engineering had given the city a quote of $42,500 to do the construction engineering, inspection and easement work. Davidson said that the project was included in the 2016 capital improvement budget and he anticipated that the total construction cost would be around $200,000 when complete. He asked for permission from the board to contract with Midwest for their services to start the project.

The board unanimously approved Davidson’s request.
