Miller's MardiGras_2015Miller’s Assisted Living Community held their Mardi Gras Celebration on Fat Tuesday.  The celebration is an annual event in which the public is invited to attend a Cajun buffet.  The beloved Mardi Gras Jester, her helpers and the Lovely Mardi Gras Lady gave Mardi Gras beads to all in attendance.

The Mardi Gras Jester kept the evening lively as she introduced Cindy Flagg, Activity Director who made many announcements throughout the evening.  Flagg also asked Mardi Gras trivia questions as the Jesters awarded prizes to the winners.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra Jazz Ensemble provided Dixieland music as residents and guests enjoyed their meal.  Making up the Jazz Ensemble were: Don Harness, tuba;  Marie Fishburn, tenor saxophone;  Elaine Vandall, trumpet; Wes Vincent, trumpet;  Judy Harness, flute; Sara Kauffman, flute; Betty Berkeypile, flute; Cindy Taber, percussion; and Quentin Flagg, percussion.

Magician Kevin Wilson of South Bend added to the festivities as he moved from table to table and mystified the on-lookers with his sophisticated close-up magic. His magic is so baffling and entertaining because it involves direct participation with the spectators.

As the evening progressed the jesters promenaded around the room showing off the crowns that would soon be placed on the heads of the 2015 Mardi Gras King and Queen.  Percussionist Quentin Flagg sounded the drum roll as Marketing Director Anna Corbett announced and crowned the 2015 King, Larry Kreighbaum and Queen, Patty Jacob.  During their reign they will represent Miller’s Senior Living Community in the 2015 Blueberry Festival Parade.
