03/11/14 On Friday, March 7th at 8:10 P.M. Plymouth Police Officer’s Jeremy Enyart and Benjamin McIntyre responded to 905 Berkley Street after receiving a tip on 28 year old Melissa Y. Johnson of Plymouth who was wanted on two active warrants.
Officers arrived at the home and were able to gained entry from the suspect’s grandmother. Officers searched the apartment for Melissa Johnson and observed a female matching her description running into another apartment across the hallway. Officer Enyart pursued the female as she kicked out a screen in a window and exited the apartment where Officer McIntyre was ready for her.
Johnson proceeded to run around the building complex where both officers ordered her to stop and she was taken into custody.
Johnson was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for Failure to Appear for Driving While Suspended with a Prior charge and Failure to Stop After an Accident. She now faces a new charge of Resisting Law Enforcement and was held on a $2,005 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
