08/08/13 Employees of the Plymouth Street Department are well into their annual painting project.  Each year the curbs in the downtown area are painted yellow and throughout the city center lines are painted yellow and fog lines are painted white.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said it takes a crew of two to three guys about three to four weeks to complete the curbs, center lines and fog lines.  It takes about 40 gallons of yellow paint just to do the curbs alone.

In total the Street Department purchased eight 55 gallon drums of white and yellow paint and 6,000 pounds of glass beads which are applied to the wet paint to make them reflective.  They will also be installing thermoplastic crosswalks before school starts.
