08/01/13 The 4th Annual Plymouth High School Football Radio Auction on WTCA is this Friday, August 2nd. This relatively new fundraiser will begin at 9 a.m. and will end either at 3 or 3:30 depending on how many more items are received.
Football mom and local business woman Tracy Peters is heading up this year’s auction. She has been assisted by Tonda Ellis who was last year’s radio auction head.
As of Wednesday night there were nearly 300 items on the auction block. Tracy Peters said, “We have everything from french fries, frames and flowers to pizzas, pop and potpourri.” Peters said, “People have been really generous, almost unbelievably so. All I had to do was ask and people and businesses gave.”
There are several new items on this year’s auction block including Hacienda gift certificate, street signage, the opportunity to get 4 to 6 football boys for 2 hours to work for you, collector coins and teeth whitening. Some of the sought after items include a sideline pass for a boy and a cheerleading pass for a girl. New this year is also the opportunity to sit in the press box with WTCA’s Tony Ross and see the behind the scene activities of the football broadcast.
There are a number of big items that will be on the auction block all day including a 1940’s era antique radio, a trip from Oliver Ford, hot air balloon ride, 3 credit hours at Ancilla College and tickets to Indiana Beach or Holiday World. Again this year they have Coca Cola for a year, Overmyer Water for a year, a 22 inch flat-screen TV, and a $3,900 copier from Adams Remco.
Last year the auction was just short in raising $9,000. Ellis said, “This year we are hoping we can raise $10,000.”
The fundraiser helps provide equipment for the team, meals for all three teams; varsity, JV and freshman after away games and the senior trip.
