07/31/13 Miller’s Assisted Living Activity Director Cindy Flagg is always looking for a reason to celebrate.  This week she ran across an interesting tidbit stating that the ice cream cone was invented by Charles Menches of St. Louis, Missouri on July 23, 1904.  That seemed as good of a reason as any to celebrate!

Flagg incorporated serving ice cream cones during a harmonica concert.  Jim Bower of Michigan City played favorite sing-a-long songs while Flagg and Miller’s PCA Karen Potter served vanilla ice cream cones to the audience.   Not one person turned down an ice cream cone and everyone enjoyed the treat as they sang along to tunes such as “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”, “Bicycle Built For Two”, “You Are My Sunshine”, and many more.
