07/30/13 Potato Creek State Park will offer visitors a look back to rural life in the not-to-distant past at “Tater Traditions” on Saturday, August 3rd. 

Tater Traditions will focus on life in the mid 1900s with period crafts and contests. 

Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a tour of one of the park’s historic barns.  From 10:30 a.m. to noon, visitors can see and touch livestock at the Baby Farm Animal Encounter.  Morning event will be at the red barn by the west boat launch.

Programs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Potato Creek Nature Center will include corncob darts, sack races and various crafts.  There will be a $1 or $2 charge for materials for craft programs, including wooden jewelry, candle dipping, butter making and weaving a mat from cattails.  Craft supplies will be limited.  Craft tickets may be purchased beginning at 9 a.m. at the nature center. 

No advance registration is required, and activities will be open to all.  The normal gate fee of $5 for Indiana vehicle and $7 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged.
