Washington Students Sell Discovery Bars at Earthworks on Saturday

04/20/12 After a week of learning about nutrition, the kindergarten and second grade students at Washington Elementary School have come up with a recipe for delicious and healthy snack bars.

Partnering with Earthworks, the children, teachers and some parents have produced “Discovery Bars,” a snack packed with fruit, nuts, and – surprisingly – beans!  The beans add protein without affecting the taste.

Want to try one?  The children will be making and selling their bars at the Earthworks Market, 701 E Jefferson St, on Saturday, April 21, starting at 9am.  Proceeds will go to the school, and will enable to the children to keep on making the bars.
