06/08/11 Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin released the May 2011 Monthly Activity Report this week.

A total 165 people were arrested and brought to the Marshall County Jail last month.  The breakdown by department shows Argos PD with 6 males and 3 females, Bourbon Police with 1 female, Bremen Police arrested 10 males and 3 females in May while Culver Police had 4 males and 3 females.  The two most active departments were the County Police with 59 males and 11 females and Plymouth Police officers with 52 males and 27 females. 

The top 10 booking charges in May were Operating While Intoxicated at the top followed by Probation Violations, Theft, Public Intoxication, and Driving While Suspended.  Number 6 on the list was Possession of Marijuana, followed by Failure to Appear, Operator Never Licensed, Civil Contempt and finally Battery.   

The Marshall County Dispatch Center answered 1,269 calls to 9-1-1 in May and dispatched police to 638 calls.  The breakdown by departments include 26 for Argos Police, 24 for Bourbon Police, 71 for Bremen Police, 27 for Culver Police, 273 for County Police and 203 for Plymouth Police.  They also dispatched 144 fire calls last month.  Argos Fire had 11, Bourbon Fire 8, Bremen Fire 5, Culver Fire 12, LaPaz Fire 33, Plymouth Fire 47, Polk Township Fire 22, and Tippecanoe Fire 6.

The County Dispatch Center dispatched 423 calls for EMS services with 27 in Argos, 23 in Bourbon, 20 in Bremen, 39 in Culver, 46 in LaPaz, 211 in Plymouth and 7 in Walkerton.  They also answered 1,126 calls or non-emergency lines last month.  Those calls were divided into types of calls…924 required police, 97 for EMS, 54 for Fire, and 51 requesting information. 

Marshall County deputies self-initiated 562 calls in May.  This includes traffic stops, assisting motorists, removing debris from the roadway and others.  50 accidents were reported to the Sheriff’s Department.  44 accidents were property damage accidents and 6 accidents had injuries.  County deputies also submitted 154 case reports and issued 12 citations.
