Area lifetime resident, Mary L. DeMien, 84, Plymouth, slipped into the arms of her Savior on Good Friday, April 22, 2011, at 10:15 a.m. at her home on Baker St., Plymouth.  She was a longtime resident of 4082 Michigan Road north of Plymouth.

Mary was born in Plymouth on Dec. 26, 1921.  She was the daughter of Ray and Mildred (Martin) Heyde.  She graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1945.

On May 12, 1946, Mary and Walter L. DeMien were married.

Mary was Supervisor of Housekeeping for Holy Cross Parkview Hospital for 26 years.  She retired in 1992.

She had an extensive collection of dolls, loved to work crossword puzzles and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

A second generation member of the North Salem Church of God, Mary was a member of the Ladies Circle.

Mary is survived by two sons and a daughter.  Her sons are Glen A. (Linda) DeMien, Nappanee: and Jimmie L. (Virginia) DeMien, Plymouth.  Her daughter is Shirley A. (Tim) Pearson of Plymouth with whom she has made her home the past two years.

Sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren survive together with a sister, Marjorie DeMien, Plymouth, a brother-in-law; Kenneth Alwine of Plymouth and brother/sister-in-law; Fred and Helen DeMien of St. Charles, Illinois.  Special friends; Dennis and Jackie Meredith of Salt Lake City and Mark and Beth Pearson of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by Walter on December 15, 2008, two grandchildren; Cole and Cora Webb and by a brother, Louis Ray Heyde.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Services in the funeral home will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Darrell Cardwell officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
