01/13/11 Plymouth Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds presented members of the Board of Public Works and Safety the year end report Monday night.

A total of 235 building permits were issued last year.  They had an estimated construction value of $11,976,238.48.  Topping the permit list was single family homes at 32 followed by 30 additions, 29 sign permits, 28 electrical permits, 24 renovations, 22 accessory structures and 20 fences. Continuing down the list is 10 temporary sign permits, 9 permits for decks, 6 porches, 5 each –  pools and demolition permits,   4 each – carports, and new construction, 3 build-outs and 1 each – fire restoration, hood, plumbing and a roof.

When looking at the comparison between 2009 and 2010 the number of permits issued were only 2 more in 2010 that 2009.  The big number that causes concern is the estimated cost of construction.  This year’s amount is $10 million dollars less than 2009.
