12/28/10 Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter’s father passed away on Christmas Eve.  He had been in failing health for some time.  His obituary and funeral arrangements follow:

Wayne Senter, 85, of Speedway, passed away, December 24, in Indianapolis. Wayne retired from EI DuPont in 1985. He was a 1943 graduate of Speedway High School and two months later joined the U.S. Army. Wayne was a Medic with 85th Infantry Division during WW II and returned home on The USS Randolph on Christmas Day 1945. He was a member of Speedway Christian Church, Friends of the Speedway Public Library and a Scoutmaster of three troops in the West District of the Crossroads of America Council over a 20 year span. He was also a volunteer at The Sharing Place West and a Charter Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Wayne’s interests included a fan of Indiana University Basketball, the Indianapolis 500, fly-fishing, reading, gardening, horseshoe pitching and enjoyed many genres of music including Bluegrass and Jazz.

He is survived by his wife, Lu Senter, children: Carol (Terry) Quillman of Bloomington, Mark (Leanne) Senter of Plymouth and Lisa (the late Brian) Martin of Plainfield. Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Amy, Tyler, Jessica, Clayton, Riley and Megan, six great-grandchildren and brother, Louis (Peggy) Senter of Bremen, Indiana. Wayne was preceeded in death by his parents, Louis and Francile Senter, and his son-in-law, Brian Martin.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 4 to 8 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway. Services will be at 11 am, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the funeral center. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of the Speedway Public Library.
