12/01/10 This Advent season, keep Christ at the center of Christmas by visiting the Bremen Holy Walk.   Much more than a live nativity scene, this hour-long outdoor walk over farmland helps participants better understand and experience Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Witness an angel speaking to the shepherds, proclaiming the birth of a Savior. Encounter gruff Roman soldiers on your way to be counted in the first census, ordered by Ceasar Augustus.  Knock on the door to the Bethlehem Inn, where you will be told there is no room, not even for a pregnant Mary.  Walk through the Bethlehem village, alive with shopkeepers buzzing with the good news of Christ’s birth.  Experience a feeling of true peace and wonder as you approach the stable, where Joseph and Mary cradle the newborn King.

This is the 30th year for this free event. Shuttle buses leave from Bremen High School, 511 West Grant Street in Bremen, every 15 minutes. Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday, December 3rd and at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4th.

Hundreds of costumed volunteers make this event a success each year; thousands experience the event each Advent season.  Groups are welcome.   Be sure to dress warmly for this outdoor event.  Questions? Call Bremen United Methodist Church at 574-546-2667 or e-mail office@bumchurch.org.
