11/19/10 Real Services is seeking community partners to help assure that at least 45 Marshall County elderly clients will receive a Christmas package. Nikki Markley, Real Services team leader, said many of those they serve with in-home care do not have family nearby and the holidays can be a very lonely time.

The annual “Elves for Elders” project has been in existence for more than five years, according to Markley.

Markley said they are grateful for any donations of gifts or monetary donations. She said, “Since many of our clients are on fixed incomes, utilitarian donations such as gift cards, blankets, laundry detergent, and personal care items are always welcomed.”

Markley said they can provide a profile of a client if someone is interested in personalizing a gift.

Additionally, Markley said they are also looking for volunteers to deliver gifts. “Someone who is willing to sit and talk to one of our clients for a few minutes can make a huge difference.”

Donations can be dropped off until December 13 at the Real Services office located at 121 E. LaPorte Street in Plymouth.

In their five-county region, Real Services plans to deliver gifts to approximately 300 clients.
