09/23/10 Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today that “Who’s On Your Ballot” is updated with information for the November 2 General Election.  “Who’s On Your Ballot?” is an online tool, found at www.IndianaVoters.com, allowing voters the opportunity to view a complete list of candidates appearing on their General Election ballots.

“This unique online feature will help better prepare Hoosiers before they cast their ballots on Nov. 2,” Secretary Rokita said. “It provides a voter with exact candidate names, the positions they are running for and public questions that will appear on their ballot on Election Day. It will give voters the opportunity to research their candidates and make educated decisions before stepping into the voting booth.”

“Who’s On Your Ballot?” was first made available to voters prior to the May 2010 primary election. In the weeks leading up to the primary, Hoosiers made 33,633 visits to “Who’s On Your Ballot?” The online resource is updated before both primary and general elections with a current, complete candidate list for each precinct, along with any public questions, such as proposed state constitutional amendments.

The online feature begins to take shape before each election cycle after the state’s election division collects the filings of those candidates seeking statewide and federal offices – documents required to be submitted to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office. From there, the division works in partnership with Indiana’s 92 county clerks to collect ballot information for county, township, municipal and school board elections and local public questions.

“An important characteristic of this online tool is that Indiana was not required by federal law or state statute to create this innovative feature,” Secretary Rokita said. “The hardworking professionals who make up my office’s election division team developed this Web portal to better serve the needs of voters.”
