09/23/10 Ancilla College and American Red Cross Blood Services teamed up on Tuesday to host a blood drive at the Donaldson-based campus.

According to Dianna Cooper, Athletic Secretary at Ancilla College and organizer of the event, 33 good units of blood were collected, eclipsing the goal of 30.

“Once again, the Ancilla community has reached its unit goal,” said Cooper. “I’m very pleased with the number of administration, faculty, staff and students that came to give blood.

“It’s an honor to be part of and work with such a giving community. Together we were able to help save of lives of at least 99 people today.”

The drive continued a strong partnership between the two sides that has been in existence for a number of years. Ancilla was previously honored in 2009 by American Red Cross Blood Services in the “Growing by Leaps & Bounds” category after posting an increase of over 200 percent in blood drive efforts.

Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
