On Friday, September 10th at 4:20 PM Sergeant Bruce Carter with the Marshall County Police Department responded to an accident at 9C and Tulip Roads.
Upon arriving on the scene Officer Carter located two vehicles, a motorcycle and a pick-up truck. The driver of the Chevy Pickup Truck was Shay Lloyd of Francisville. She told Officer Carter that she was traveling Westbound on 9C Road when she saw a motorcycle coming at her.
The 1983 Honda Motorcycle was driven by 70 year old Otto “Mike” Lueth Jr. who was appeared to be traveling eastbound and left of center. Lloyd went off the roadway to try to avoid the collision with the motorcycle but was unable to do so. The vehicles hit head on.
The passenger in Lloyd’s vehicle Glenn E. Manns of Aldean was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the truck. Aldean was airlifted from the scene and transported to a South Bend Hospital.
Lloyd was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center by Plymouth EMS.
The driver of the motorcycle, “Mike” Lueth was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.
