Monday morning the Marshall County Council will begin the process of making the necessary reductions to the 2011 budget.

The Council did not make any reductions at the budget hearings in August, so the reductions will be made at Monday’s meeting.  It was estimated that $387,000 needs to be cut from the $10.3 million requests.  Members will review each department’s budget requests and make the cuts they decide are necessary.

The County Council will also conduct the unit budget reviews and make recommendations of the other various taxing units in the County .

The meeting is set to begin at 9 a.m. with additional appropriations and transfer request followed by adoption of the Solid Waste budget, and a hearing on the Southwest Lake Maxinkuckee Sewer District.

The agenda lists the review of County departmental budgets beginning at 10:15 a.m.  It is likely that this will be an all day meeting.

The County Council meeting is open to the public with comments and questions limited to agenda items at the beginning of the meeting.
