Miss Haley Flamion, age 10, daughter of Dan and Donna Flamion of Santa Claus, was crowned Miss Indiana Preteen at the 2010 Miss Indiana Preteen Pageant in Indianapolis on August 8.  She will represent Indiana in the 27th Annual Scholarship Pageant in Orlando, Florida, during Thanksgiving week, vying for the title of Miss American Preteen and thousands of dollars in cash awards, prizes and scholarships.

Haley is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ethel Flamion of Huntingburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Mullen of Solsberry. She is also the niece of Sandy Milleman, Linda Mullen Clevenger, Lori Hundt and Joe Mullen, all of Bremen.

A panel of judges scored the contestants in three categories:

  • Poise and Appearance in Formal Wear
  • Personality During an Interview
  • Personal Introduction and Appearance in Business Suit.

Haley was also the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award at this year’s state pageant.   In addition to her crown, Haley received a cash award, banner, trophy and flowers.  She was also awarded travel expenses to the National Pageant and two tickets to Disney World.  She will travel back to Indianapolis to crown her successor at the Indiana State Pageant in 2011.

Since 1983, millions of dollars in cash and prizes have been presented to outstanding girls at state and national competitions.  American Coed Pageants, Inc. annually holds state pageants for the purpose of recognizing and rewarding outstanding young women for the accomplishments and to encourage them to set and achieve high goals for the future.

Haley’s first official appearance as the Miss Indiana Preteen was at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday, August 14, where she was invited by Cheri Daniels, the First Lady of Indiana, to participate in the Heartland Walk for Health.  Adorned in her banner and crown, Haley arrived early to help promote the event, and then joined the First Lady as they led the Walk around the State Fairgrounds.  Haley had other “photo ops” as she met with some of the Indianapolis Colts’ cheerleaders and their mascot, Blue.  This is sure to be an exciting year for Haley, as she is invited to participate in various events around the state.
