The Marshall County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau will be displaying a 4 x 4 barn quilt at the Marshall County Blueberry Festival this weekend.  They invite visitors to stop by their booth and see the quilt block and learn more about the trail and other things to see and do in Marshall County.  Their booth will be located between the pool and T-ball field.  They will be hosting a fund raiser to support the trail during the festival and one lucky winner will take home the quilt block.

The Marshall County Barn Quilt Trail began in the spring of 2009 and was the first in Indiana.  Currently there are 30 mounted barn quilts throughout the county with several in the process of being mounted or painted.  This fun and exciting project started to help promote tourism in Marshall County while combining the appreciation for agricultural heritage, artistic talent and local history.  The Barn Quilt trail also helps showcase some of the many other attractions and venues throughout the county, including local shops, restaurants and farmer’s markets.

The Barn Quilts, however, would not have been possible without the support of community members who have designed patterns, painted quilts, mounted quilts, and offered to adorn their barns, homes, businesses with these colorful quilts.
