The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is hosting an open house at Jackson Intermediate Center Tuesday, June 22 to present updated design and construction plans for the U.S. 31 corridor between Plymouth and South Bend. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Team members and engineers will be available to answer questions during the informational open house.

The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jackson Intermediate Center at 5001 S. Miami Road.

The U.S. 31 corridor project from Plymouth to South Bend will upgrade the corridor to a freeway with access only at interchanges.  Fifteen miles of the 20-mile corridor will be built on new terrain.  The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion, improve safety and provide for the reliable and efficient movement of commerce and regional travel.  As part of Governor Mitch Daniels’ Major Moves program, congested sections of U.S. 31 are being upgraded between Indianapolis and South Bend.

Additional information about the project is available at www.us31plysb.com.
