The Marshall County Council will meet Monday morning at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the County Building.

Agenda for the meeting includes the request of an additional appropriation for the Building and Grounds Department for the Annex roof and courthouse boiler.  During the May meeting Rich Ulrich told the Council an emergency situation had come to light with the Annex building.  The 22 year old roof has been patched several times during the past 5 years and recent leaks have caused interior damage.  He estimated the cost to be between $40,000 and $60,000.  Ulrich said he could find half of the funds needed in his budget but would need the other half from the Council.  It was suggested the other half come from the County’s Rainy Day Fund.

Ulrich also advised that the 5-boiler system in the court house is down to one working boiler.  He said the boiler needed t be replaced before the next heating season.  Estimated cost for the replacement is $40,000 to $50,000.

The Marshall County Council will also discuss the 2011 budget considerations.  The Council will be looking for recommendations from the Commissioners on compensation and hiring for the next year.  They will also discuss the suggestion of Councilman Ralph Booker of developing a comprehensive strategic plan for their department for the next 2 to 5 years.  Booker said that it seems that we work from one emergency to the next.

The County Council meeting is open to the public for comments and questions of agenda items.
