It was a busy holiday weekend for the Plymouth Police Department. 

On Friday, May 28th Corporal Joe Deisch conducted a traffic stop at Gibson and Roy Street at 3:50 a.m.  As a result of the traffic stop was the arrest of 19 year old John A Popi of West Washington Street.  Popi was arrested for operating while intoxicated and illegal consumption of alcohol.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail.  He was released with no judicial review at 4 a.m. Sunday.

Officer Shanna Gilmer was dispatched to Martin’s Supermarket at 4:045 p.m. Friday for a theft report.  56 year old Kathleen D. Andrzejewski of Culver was arrested for shoplifting and lodged in the County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.

Saturday morning about 1:40 Officer Jason Dobbins witnessed a driver swaying back and forth as he attempted to relieve himself on a parked vehicle parked in front of the Dandelion Bar on West LaPorte Street.  After a portable breath test 39 year old Timothy D. Allen of Jackson, Minnesota was incarcerated for public intoxication.  His bond was set at $500 cash.  He was released Saturday at 11:15 a.m. after posting his bond.

Saturday morning at 1:54 a.m. Officer Tim Taberski conducted a traffic stop at Michigan and Elliott Streets. Three people were arrested, 18 year old Alyona McConkey of Elkhart for possession of marijuana, and operating a vehicle with a schedule I controlled substance.  Her bond was set at $2,000.  21 year old Brandon Fansler of Mishawaka was arrested for possession of marijuana.  His bond was set at $1,000 and 18 year old John Reusser of Elkhart was arrested for invasion of privacy with a prior charge.  He was held in the County Jail on a $750 cash bond. 

At 8:40 Saturday evening Officer Gary Cleveland was on bike patrol near the Neidlinger Pavilion in Centennial Park when he observed William Collins and two juveniles.  Upon approaching the subjects Officer Cleveland smelled the odor of marijuana.  During a search he located marijuana and pills on Collins and one of the juveniles.  19 year old William Collins of Plymouth was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail.  He was booked in on a D felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and an A misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.  The juvenile was released to a parent with charges pending.

On Sunday, May 30th Officer Shelly Church conducted a traffic stop at the Speedway on North Michigan Street at 1:07 a.m.  The stop was because the driver didn’t have headlights on.  Her investigation revealed that the driver, 21 year old Edmelinda Armendariz of Skylane Drive was operating while intoxicated.  She was transported to the jail and held on a $1,000 cash bond until 1:30 p.m. when her bond was paid and she was released.

Sunday morning at 2:10 a.m. Plymouth officers observed two vehicles pulled over near Michigan and Washington Streets.  A verbal argument began as 27 year old Adam Richard exited his vehicle and approached the vehicle driven by 22 year old Megan Richard.  Officer Gary Cleveland determined that a protective order was in place prohibiting contact by Mr. Richard.  He was taken to the Jail and booked in for a class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy.  His $750 cash bond was paid at 9:30 Monday and he was released.

At approximately 10 a.m. Sunday Officer Mark Owen was dispatched to the 700 block of West Jefferson Street for a battery report.  21 year old Daniel Nitz was accused of hitting a 14 year olds male juvenile in the face.  Nitz was taken to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $500 bond. 

Police units were dispatched to 300 Oak Hill Avenue Sunday afternoon at 4:40 for a domestic disturbance call.  When police arrived on the scene 45 year old Lionel Vela was taken into custody and transported to the jail.  His wife 43 year old Lynn Vela was transported to the hospital for her injuries.  Once given jail clearance Mrs. Vela was transported to the County Jail for a charge of battery.  Each were held on $750 cash bonds.

On Tuesday, June 1st at 12:45 a.m. Corporal Joe Deisch arrested 18 year old Shane E. Weedling of Plymouth following a bike theft report.  Located at Gilmer and Pierce Streets, Weedling was taken into custody and charged with theft and illegal consumption of alcohol. 

Tuesday morning at 2:46 a.m. Officer Deisch investigated a suspicious person complaint on Oak Road.  Officer Deisch located the suspect, 25 year old Christopher Scott of Plymouth.  Scott was arrested for public intoxication and theft. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.

A bit later Tuesday at 9:22 a.m. Officer Ted Brown was dispatched to the Marshall County Probation Department in reference to a subject in the lobby with an outstanding warrant.  26 year old Daniel Nifong was arrested without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
